Featherlight Transparency — Sheer luxury woven since the 13th century.
Patronized by royalty since the Chandela dynasty, Chanderi fabric is prized for its glossy transparency and coin-thin weight. The unique lustre comes from weaving silk yarn over a cotton warp. Zari bootis and traditional motifs of coins, peacocks, and florals are woven directly into the fabric.
Silk warp over cotton weft for sheer transparency. Traditional zari bootis hand-woven using a dobby or jacquard mechanism on pit looms.
